Description
WORLD LEADER IN CONDENSING UNIT APPLICATION
Emerson Climate Technologies ushered in a new phase of energy efficiency for the HVACR industry 25 years ago with the launch of Copeland Scroll technology in 1987. By 1992, the company had produced one million Copeland Scroll compressors.
Today, Copeland is the world’s largest manufacturer of air-conditioning and refrigeration compressors with over 100-million scroll compressors installed worldwide. Leveraging on Emerson’s vast global network and R&D resources, the company also continues to develop the ultimate in climate technology for both business and living.
Industry experience shows the common practice of building a locally assembled CDU with multiple sources of components leads to inconsistent quality and complex sourcing. Market trend is now shifting from local CDU assembly to factory built CDU that results to consistent quality and simpler sourcing. Save on assembly time and applied costs by converting from local assembled indoor CDU to factory built CDU such as Emerson’s IZSI Indoor Condensing Unit powered by Copeland Scroll Compressor.
The IZSI Indoor Scroll CDU also features Liquid Injection Technology controlled by an intelligent electronics platform –the CoreSense™ Control Board, which regulates liquid injection by sensing the Discharge Line Temperature (DLT). This combination both protects the compressor from failure and widens the operating envelope. The CoreSense Control Board also features LED Display that alerts the user of sensor status and Electronic Expansion Valve (EEV) operation. This is Emerson’s “smart compressor” strategy - allowing compressor protection, DLT and EEV status alert leading to less
compressor downtime; thus, providing more value to its customers.
Save on Applied Costs and Assembly time
• IZSI comes with accessories (e.g. filter drier, sight glass & moisture indicator, pump down solenoid, electrical contactor) thus simplifying component sourcing
• Consistent quality achieved through factory built CDU
Wide Range Operating Envelope
• LT to MT from -30°C to 5°C evaporating temperature
• Low-temperature operation reliability due to liquid injection technology controlled by CoreSense
• Reduced inventory levels due to wide range application
Qualified for R404A, R134a, R407
• Multi refrigerant capability enables HCFC phase-out
• One unit works with multiple refrigerants thus reducing inventory
Scroll Efficiency and Reliability
• COP improvement leads to annual electrical savings of 10–30% or about $100–$500 per year as compared with reciprocating systems depending on model
• 70% fewer moving parts than reciprocating
• Superior liquid handling
Smooth Scroll Movement
• Low sound and vibration leading to reliable operation
• No complex internal suction and discharge valves for quieter operation
CoreSense Technology Liquid Injection Regulation
• Low-temperature operation reliability due to Liquid Injection Technology
• Onboard control for Liquid Injection by sensing Discharge Line Temperature (DLT)
• LED Display Alerts User of DLT Sensor Status and EXV Operation
Standard unit (STD) with Coresense, Electrical box, CC heater, Filter Drier, Sight Glass, service valve suction. Dual Pressure Switch, Receiver with Valve, Fan Motor, Heat Exchanger, Scroll Compressor with stub tube.

Ensure the cut-out settings of the pressure controls for the safe operation of the unit.
APPLICATION TIPS:
Evacuation:
- Do Not Use Compressor To Vacuum
- Do Not Use Compressor To Vacuum
- Must Vacuum At Both High/Low Side
- Must Confirm System Has Vacuum Properly Prior To Charging Refrigerant
- Do Not Run Compressor Without Proper Refrigerant Charged
Application Tips For Scroll Compressors
- Vacuum break with pure liquid refrigerant charge on high side and top up by liquid bleed in suction
- Do not use compressor to pull vacuum
- Never use the compressor to suck oil into the system
- Do not test compressor by closing the suction
- Do not set low pressure switch below 0 psig (0 Bar)
- Do not bypass LP controls
- Do not pump down below 0 psig (0 Bar)
- Reverse rotation– Scroll compressors pump in one direction only– Incorrect rotation can be identified by
- Low current, noise, balanced suction and discharge pressures
- Correct by interchanging any two phases
- Short term reverse rotation will not damage the compressor
Refrigerant Charging
- Refrigerant Charging– Charge Liquid Into High Side Of System–
- Do NOT Charge System Using Gas Through The Suction Side- Compressor Will Overheat
- If Top Up Is Necessary Bleed Some Liquid Refrigerant Into Low Side When The Compressor Is Running
