Freight, Handling & Trade Counter Pickups

All Australian Stareast International deliveries originate from our one centrally located Padstow Sydney NSW Warehouse. We are proud to cater for not just our valued customers within Australia but also for our valued customers all over the world, and so the cost of freight/handling is not included in the advertised price of any item.

Stareast has implemented the Australia and world-wide online freight algorithm that works out the available shipping methods and related pricing for your entire order. Moreso, it gives you options as to how you would like your order sent. Delivery times and costs vary. Please note however, that due to the many variables affecting local and international shipping, in rare cases we may not be able to provide your selected shipping option. Our dispatch department will either select the most efficient and cost-effective method of shipping on your behalf or get in touch with you if there are any discrepancies with your selected online shipping quote. If a singular item is flagged as a bulky item, ie, over 6m in length or over 25kg, your only freight option will be a pallet charge. We will usually get in touch within 1 business day to sort this out with you as the costs can be considerably lower in which case we will provde a refund for the difference if applicable. Also please note, that Stareast imposes a small handling charge together with the shipping charge to cover the costs of dispatch.

We endeavour to send your orders out quickly. Most likely, if an order is placed before our 2pm AEST cut-off time on a working business day (time varies based on delivery peak season), it is likely to be dispatched that afternoon. We will also favour a shipping service with faster delivery time over chosen delivery method if it is feasible for us to do so.


If an email address is provided at time of order, you will also be able to receive an email from our dispatch software when your order is collected by our carriers. This will make it possible for you to track your items and orders. 


Pickups, Walk-Ins & Service Fees

Our Stareast Trade Counter houses some of the brightest minds in the industry with personalised customer service and a commitment to excellence. For this reason, we try not to overwhelm our highly experienced technical staff by non account customers who turn up at our trade counter without an online order or allocated pick-up time. This is why we strongly reccomend that you order via our website before arrival so that you can be allocated a pick-up time and that your item(s) can be ready for collection by the time you arrive.

Customers without a cash or 30 day account who walk into our trade counter without an online order beforehand may be turned away or may incur the full $30+GST service fee. Please note however that the service fee is never charged for orders with an invoice value of over $20+GST so you are still welcome to come in without an online order but we ask you to consider purchasing via our website beforehand for faster service on arrival. Please consider adding items such as tapes and glues to your order to increase the invoice value and in turn assist us with the high cost of our trade counter overheads. 

We may need to verify you by sighting your ID before the order is given to you. For this reason, we cannot accept pickups from nominated carriers as we use our own to ensure orders are sent to the specified order address.  


Domestic Freight Method

For Australia-wide deliveries, Stareast have 3 main methods of dispatch.

1) Australia Post eParcel and Pre-Paid Satchels
2) Direct Freight Road Express
3) Same Day Sydney Couriers (4 hour turn-around time)

1) Australia Post eParcel and Pre-Paid Satchels

Stareast has teamed up with Australia Post to provide our customers with what we believe to be one of the best shipping service Australia Wide. We now not only deliver directly to your door, but can also deliver to a PO BOX as well as a parcel locker or Aus Post approved delivery point. 

Please check-out on the website with your order to see if this is an available option for you. Both standard Parcel Post and Express Post services can be selected at check-out as your preferred shipping method. We will choose the best method to send your order either via eParcel or a select pre-paid satchel service. Australia Post Express Post is our preferred air carrier where deliveries can be made next day to most metrpolitan areas around Australia. 

NB: eParcel charges are calculated by weight alone, provided the longest side of the carton or satchel does not exceed 100cm and weight of any single satchel or carton is not in excess of 22KG. Also note that no aerosols, SLA Batteries, chemicals or similar hazardous goods can be sent via express services. If any of these items are in your cart, the Express Post option will usually not appear to you when you checkout so that it cannot be selected. 


2) Direct Freight Road Express

We use Direct Freight Road Express for our preferred road carrier to most areas within Australia. 

For delivery of trade orders, heavy/bulky goods, pallets, dangerous goods, multiple cartons, etc you will most likely choose this delivery method. We will also choose this delivery method on your behalf if the cost of delivery is considerably lower than eParcel Standard and Express services with similar transit times. 

Please check-out on the website with your order to see if Direct Freight Express is an available option for you. Some services to areas within certain regions or remote areas that incur exorbitant on forward contractor surcharges will need to be passed on to you and payment collected seperatley. We will still opt to send these types of packages by another courier method, most likely being Australia Post if possible. 

Direct Freight Express shipping charges are dependent on weight and volume, whichever is higher. For example, products under 3 kilograms of weight with higher volumetric weight calculation may incur a higher freight charge than the specified weight amount. We are unable to forsee if the cubic measurement is higher than the weight of the item as our website determines your shipping costs by weight alone. Not until the order is packed and ready to be dispatched we can get in touch with you if and whenever there is an issue before you are invoiced but these issues rarely happen.

Please also note:
* We cannot deliver to a PO BOX, parcel locker and certain residential addresses with this freight service. 
* You must supply us with an address where someone will be available during business hours to sign for your article otherwise a $20 re-delivery fee may be charged to your payment method.
* Singular items over 25KG may incur a $10 surcharge i,e, heavy higher HP compressor
* Dangerous goods may need to be delivered via a different delivery carrier and a $30-$50 surcharge may be incurred. 
* Items between 2 and 6 metres long such as drain pipe, trunking, or hard drawn copper pipe may incur surcharges between $25 - $800
* Pallets and skids delivered to you without a forklift on your premesis will incur an $85+GST surcharge so that the carrier can organise a tail lift vehicle. Please notify us if you do not have access to a forklift at time of your larger &/or heavy order. 

We will always confirm with you via phone or email before these surcharges are passed on and invoiced.


3) Same Day Sydney Couriers (4 hour turn-around time)

For time sensitive same day deliveries in Sydney, you may be able to select this option at check-out. Please note, this is only available if your order is placed before 12pm AEST on business days and is for delivery addresses within Sydney ONLY. We will get in touch with you to arrange delivery if this option is selected. Please note, pricing is a flat rate of $150+GST for a 6 tonne tray with roof racks and delivery can be made between 1-4 hours from the time of booking. Please note the actual same day courier company we utilise varies, but is usually Swift Transport. 


Overseas / International Freight Method

With Australia Post international services, Stareast can delivery to just about anywhere on the planet! We use EMS International Express as our main international consignment carrier. More info:

1) International Express Expedited EMS Worldwide courier via Australia Post. This caters for cartons up to 20KG each. You can track delivery for your consignment from our warehouse to your door. Our website will provide a shipping quote for you on the spot so you can easily check-out.

2) UPS/DHL/FEDEX Courier. This method of delivery is useful for larger orders, items a little over 100cm, palleted article types, and singular items between 20 and 50 KG. You will need to request this service in the comments section of your order (after you check out still with International Express) and we will get in touch with you with a quote using our Worldwide online portal. Note these carriers charge us usually significantly more than EMS, and we will ask for extra payment after your successful order. If you are unable to checkout because there are no available shipping options we may need to manually collect your order, get in touch with us for more info. 

We endeavour to ensure our international shipping charge quoted to you on our website is accurate, but in the rare event the cost of dispatch exceeds charge, we will need to get in touch with you to sort it out. Please ensure the phone and email address you have supplied to us on your order is accurate. 

20KG is the maximum allowance per carton for all Australia Post International services. The longest side cannot exceed 100cm and the package cannot contain any dangerous goods such as aerosols and flammables. If you have added these to your cart you will not be able to successfully checkout as there will be no available shipping methods. We are unable to send DG's to international destinations at this time.

Also note, custom taxes and duty charges may be imposed by your country before delivery can be made. You are repsonsible for these charges so please keep this in mind when ordering.
